Care
Jewellery changes with time. This is natural — and part of its life with you.
A little care helps your piece age beautifully.
Silver
Silver naturally tarnishes over time. This is a normal reaction of the metal and, sometimes, it adds character to the piece. If you prefer a brighter surface, silver can be easily polished.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth and clean the surface with gentle back-and-forth motions rather than circular ones, which may create fine scratches.
If needed, a small amount of mild washing powder while polishing can help. If you wear silver often, a jewellery polishing cloth is a simple and effective tool for removing tarnish.
If using a chemical cleaning cloth or agent, be sure to wash your jewellery thoroughly afterwards. Warm water, a drop of liquid soap and an old toothbrush will do.
Gold plating
Gold plating is not permanent. With wear, it will gradually soften and fade.
Contact with household cleaners, perfume, hairspray, hand cream, makeup, and other beauty products can speed up this process. Some people appreciate this natural change, but if you would like your piece refreshed, in some cases replating can be arranged.
Crystals and stones
Pieces with stones benefit from a little extra attention. Try to avoid knocking rings or jewellery against hard surfaces and handle them gently in everyday wear.
Wood
Some of my pieces include wood, which gives it its unique beauty and warmth. To keep it looking its best:
- Keep it dry: Remove before swimming, showering, or washing hands.
- Avoid chemicals: Perfumes, lotions, and cleaning products can affect the finish.
- Store safely: A soft pouch or separate box helps prevent scratches.
- Clean gently: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth; if needed, a slightly damp cloth works too.
- Refresh naturally: Occasionally, a tiny dab of natural oil can keep the wood nourished and glowing.
If you’re ever unsure about cleaning or refreshing your piece, feel free to reach out or send it to me—I’d be happy to care for it personally.
Please note!
Exposure to household chemicals, perspiration, rubber, chlorinated water, and substances containing sulphur (such as eggs, mustard, onions, mayonnaise, latex, or wool) can cause corrosion and tarnishing.
It is best to remove jewellery when doing household work, swimming, or sunbathing. Lotions, cosmetics, and perfume may also accelerate oxidation, so applying them before putting jewellery on can help.
If you are unsure how to clean, refresh, or polish your piece, you are always welcome to contact me for advice. You can also send or bring the piece to me, and I can take care of it for you.
Care is not about preserving perfection — it is about allowing the piece to continue its life with you.
